My nephew needs help

November 17th 2009 22:34
I was talking to my sister last night and she was very upset about her son. She said he is doing terrible in one of his classes. I told her to help him but she said she really can't because she doesn't understand it.

What is it? Well, its math of course. She was hoping that I would be able to give hims some math help but there is no way. I almost didn't graduate from college because of a math class. I suggested that she look for some online math tutoring. It's my thought that an online math tutor would be cheaper than a real person doing the tutoring.

She is going to try. I hope she finds a service she can afford because I know it really has her stressed out!

Patrick Hughes and Extreme Home Makeover

February 18th 2008 14:49
I watch Extreme Home Makeover on a regular basis and sometimes I wonder why they picked some of the recipients. However, last night there was no question in my mind and I applaud Extreme Home Makeover for their decision. It was amazing!!!!!!

The basis for their decision was a young man named Patrick Henry Hughes. He was born blind with multiple disabilities. This guy is such an inspiration on all levels. First off, he doesn't see himself as disabled but instead feels he is abled. Second he is so incredibly talented he deserves to be discovered and it is certainly my hope that his exposure last night on the show will help him. I hope and pray that some record company execs were watching as they showcased Patrick who is simply a phenomenon! I did find a video on YouTube that has had almost two million hits but couldn't get it to load up.so below is another one I found. If you missed last nights episode of Extreme Home Makeover, please click play on this video....It will make your day!!!

Would it be considered whining if....

September 16th 2007 14:53
You know one of the worst things about being diagnosed with something like Lupus is that its something most people don't know about. Hell, I didn't know about it until I was told I had it. It is such a strange disease that everytime I notice something new I search like a maniac around the internet trying to see if anyone else has experienced what I'm experiencing.

Would it be considered whining to maybe post once a week what is happening with me? I'm not a whiner and I am not looking for sympathy, but I am thinking this may help others deal with their disease. Also, maybe if there are others out there, the post will provoke them into sharing what they've experieinced and how they have coped

HPV?? Or an Awesome Marketing Ploy?

February 25th 2007 01:45
I know all of you have heard all the rucus about the HPV vaccine. Now I have to say their arguement that it will make teen girls more sexually active at an earlier age sounds like bunk to me....HOWEVER...my issue is as follows:

Last year, if you remember there were commericials every night during primetime television about the HPV virus. This was the first I'd ever heard of it and I'd guess it was the first many ever heard of it. Anyway, surely you remember these commectials with the women on the street looking so surprised saying things like, "A cancer caused by a virus? Who knew?" After about six months of these, I was really sick of seeing them. I paused my DVR one day in the middle of the commercial to read the little tiny print on the bottom and I don't remember exactly what it said, but I do remember it had the drug company name, Merck on it. I told my husband then, "watch a drug has to follow this

Fixing a bad nose job

October 14th 2006 17:09
Wow, I can’t believe how much I am learning on this quest for perfection. I guess I’m a bit naïve, or maybe its just that I’m optimistic, but whenever I go to a doctor for anything, I trust they know what they are doing. However, while researching this plastic surgery thing, it became evident that obviously a lot of surgeons make mistakes. Today’s topic of research was nose jobs. I found a Los Angeles nose surgery place that specializes in fixing botched nose jobs done by other surgeons. Now, I’m happy that there are specialist to do this, but it does drive home the point that one needs to be extremely careful when picking a surgeon. I’ll keep researching…

Mirror, mirror, on the wal...

October 14th 2006 17:01
I’m looking in the mirror…ooh that’s a scary thing. The older you get the worse it gets. Did you know, some things continue to grow as you age? I didn’t know that, until I read some fellow blogger here at Orble. Can’t remember whose blog I was on, but it was interesting to learn. Since I’ve been contemplating plastic surgery, albeit not too seriously since I am pretty poor, I’ve been paying close attention to various changes I see in the mirror. One of them is my nose. Now I don’t think its an offensive nose, but it certainly has grown a bit since I was young. Anyway, you know me, I had to get online to check it out. My search landed on a site about rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills. I’ll bet its really big business. They had some incredible before and after pictures. I learned another thing as well….there are places that do only nose jobs. I would think that this would be my preference if I ever decided to rid myself of this Swedish nose.

Breast cancer surgery

October 13th 2006 16:17
Anyone contemplating any type of plastic surgery should do their homework. It’s imperative. I’ve talked about my contemplation of liposuction, but during my research I’ve learned about a lot of other things. Some of the new information that I found was on the George Lindemann Sr., MD FACS Blog. His direct way of explaining things cleared up a lot of the mystery for me. One of things I found on his blog was something I think all women need to know. An unfortunate number of women face surgery every year due to breast cancer. I personally have known a few ladies who have had to deal with partial or complete mastectomies. I know their physical battle was tough, but almost as bad was the emotional battle connected with body image. On Dr. Lindemann’s blog he talks about an option I did not know existed and that is: Oncoplastic surgery. While this sounds like some incredibly technical procedure, Dr. Lindemann explains that is where the cancer surgeon and the plastic surgeon work simultaneously on the breast cancer patient. What an awesome thing…a woman could leave her treatment with less body image issues and therefore, less emotional issues. I, for one, have added that term to my vocabulary in the event I would ever have to face this issue.

No Hype, Just Facts

October 13th 2006 16:12
I told you in an earlier blog that I was going to research plastic surgery. Geez, there’s tons of info and tons of ads for physicians. I spent hours reading ads before I came upon New Jersey Plastic Surgeons. I went to their website and was really quite impressed. It’s a relatively small group, but they’ve been doing plastic surgery for two generations. Everything on the site was written in a clear and straight forward fashion. Not a lot of hype, just facts. They clearly explain the various procedures they do and what each one involves. Plus I like the fact that they have some pretty impressive reviews from some top name magazines and organizations.

I don’t know if I’m ready yet, but if you are researching this topic as well, be sure to visit the New Jersey Plastic Surgeons site

Body Image and Liposuction

October 13th 2006 16:09
I’ve never thought of my self as vain or anything, but lately (now that I’m older), I’m looking in the mirror and beginning to understand why some people have plastic surgery. I’ve had two kids and I’ve always been one with a yo-yo weight problem. This is because while I want to look good, but I enjoy the social aspects of food just a bit too much. This yo-yo thing really wreaks havoc on a body. As I’ve aged my dieting efforts are more and more difficult and the results seem less and less positive. And I’ve actually noticed that my “spot” problems have changed position. I am seriously contemplating liposuction. I came upon a blog the other day regarding plastic surgery. Pretty cool site in that the doctor who writes the blog makes it educational and entertaining. He even has a section about television shows and celebrities. While I’m still not sure if plastic surgery is for me or not, I do know that I will do some serious research before I make any decisions.

Recyclable cars?

October 13th 2006 16:06
I was perusing various blogs and came upon a car blog I found extremely interesting. Now mind you, I’m not a car person, so it’s saying a lot if it caught my attention. The Car Blog by Bradley George Lindemann isn’t your normal car review site. It was actually interesting. The article that caught my attention was about a 3 year old who bid on and won a car on EBay. The mother feels she has a child prodigy, as a mom, I can relate to how she feels, but as a mom who has raised her kids and now knows the truth, what she has is a kid with happy fingers who happened to click the Buy It Now Button. Ahh… that’s okay, mom, enjoy the fantasies while you can. Once day your son will grow up and that’s when you can gauge if you raised a prodigy or not.

Anyway, back to the blog site. Mr. Lindemann captures some of the most interesting and entertaining car facts as well as listing the best and worst of cars, hottest sports cars and manufacturer news, which right now is that Mercedes is building a 100% recyclable car…good stuff
