Hunkered Down and Awaiting Hurricane Gustav
September 1st 2008 00:29
I knew it had been too quiet here on the Gulf Coast. I live two blocks from the Bay so they called a mandatory evacuation. Well, we tried to evacuate as ordered, however, we sat on the road barely moving for hours and burned up half a tank of gas. So at the first opportunity, we exited and came back home.
We have everything we would need to keep us for three days. More importantly, we have an attic with drop down steps...in case of rising water. Feeder bands are blasting through right now at about one an hour. The worst is supposed to be moving in tomorrow morning, so I've got my camera ready and will post pictures as soon as I can.
