Politically Incorrect?
November 29th 2007 20:49
No, more likely culturally incorrect. I was listening to the news this morning and they were talking about the British woman in Africa who had her second grade students name a teddy bear. The students decided to name the bear Mohammad (which was also the name of one of the students). Sadly someone reported and now the poor woman is in jail in Sudan….that’s really scary. Apparently she didn’t know that the name is sacred and that by giving it to a stuffed animal she was showing incredible disrespect. I pray that the court will accept ignorance as a defense.
I do hope if she gets out of this that she asks questions next time she does anything, so that she doesn’t find herself in such a mess. I learned a long time ago that some of the cultures, especially in the Middle East are so different than ours…one really has to educate themselves before they travel abroad.
